11月22日（土）、本校体育館を会場にイングリッシュイベントを開催しました。これは、普段教室で学んだ外国語表現を、実際の生活に近い様々な場面で活用できる空間の中で、初めて出会うALTと会話することを通し、学びの価値を実感し、外国語を用いて主体的にコミュニケーションを図ろうとする態度を育成することを目的に毎年開催しているものです。
会場には「飲食店」や「不動産店」など、様々な仮想ブースを設け、ワークショップ形式で生徒がALTと場面に応じた会話を交わしました。生徒はグループ毎にブースを訪れ、ジェスチャーを交えながら商品を注文したり自分の希望を相手に英語で伝えようとしたりすることができました。また、校区内小学校からも5・6年生が数名参加し、笑顔でALTと英語で会話する姿がみられました。
今後も様々な機会を設け、本校生徒の外国語表現力やコミュニケーション能力を高める教育活動を推進していきたいと考えています。
On Saturday, November 22nd, our school held its annual English Event in the school gymnasium. The primary goal of this event, which we host every year, is to give students an opportunity to realize the value of their foreign language studies. They do this by using the expressions they typically learn in the classroom in various real-life simulated settings. By conversing with an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher)—who they meet for the first time at the event—in this immersive environment, we aim to cultivate an attitude where students proactively use a foreign language to communicate. The venue featured a variety of simulated booths, such as a “restaurant” and a “real estate office.” Students participated in workshops at these booths, engaging in conversations with the ALTs that were appropriate for each specific situation. In their groups, students visited the booths, successfully ordering products or attempting to convey their wishes to the ALT in English, often using gestures to help them communicate. Furthermore, several 5th and 6th-grade students from elementary schools within our district also participated, and they were observed smiling and conversing happily with the ALTs in English. Moving forward, we plan to create various opportunities to continue promoting educational activities that enhance our students’ foreign language expression skills and overall communication abilities.
